Our Journey To The Lego League National Finals 2025!

The BB Lego League Girls travelled ten and a half hours on a minibus up to Yorkshire to compete in the FLL National Finals. For this, they had to compete in the Robot Games, present about their robot design and their Innovation Project about Coral Bleaching.

The weekend started on Friday morning for our team, leaving at 10am and arriving near Harrogate where the team stayed in an Air B and B.
They had an early start on Saturday morning, leaving at 6am, to travel to the Lego League Nationals in Harrogate which was presented by Maddie Moate and Tom Deacon from CBBC. After unfathomable hours of work by the all girl team, BB Lego League Girls came 34th out of 75 other teams in the robot games. It was an amazing experience, and one the team will never forget. The standard of all of the teams there was outstanding and it really was an amazing experience.

On the second day, they were told by Mr Scott, Penny Hermes and Sam Clifford that they were going to a Button Museum! Mr Deadman pretended to be the owner of the button museum (A German man named Fred). The children had mixed feelings about going to the button museum, but once they learnt the button pledge, they were actually looking forward to it! There was even some disappointment when they discovered they were actually going to Lego Land for the day, not that they realised this until they actually pulled into the entrance!

The Lego League Girls got back to Cornwall around 9:45 pm and were shattered afterwards!

Our experience has taught us to never give up and persevere even when times are hard. This has been truly amazing and a big opportunity for every one of us. Thank you so much Penny Hermes, Sam Clifford and Mr Scott for helping us along the way!

You can see the team here on YouTube (first appearance around 1 hour 22 minutes):

Cornish Regional Event - Culdrose

On Wednesday, 12th March 2025, the BB Lego League Girls attended a regional event at Culdrose Navy Base, where they showcased their incredible skills and teamwork, winning the overall Champions award!

The team impressed the judges with their outstanding presentation on coral bleaching, creative Lego sculptures, informative display board, and their confident answers to challenging questions. Their success didn’t stop there — they also triumphed in the robot games (beating 29 other teams including secondary schools), earning special recognition from the site commander, who invited them to complete an extra run due to their exceptional performance.

The whole team had a fantastic day, enjoying exciting VR and AI activities, celebrating their robot game victory, and proudly qualifying for the national finals in Harrogate this May.
Congratulations to the BB Lego League Girls on their amazing achievements, you have truly shared your gifts and talents and we couldn’t be prouder of you!
