My absolute favourite book is The Magic Faraway Tree, written by Enid Blyton. I have such fond memories of reading this as a little girl, imagining that I too would climb to the top-most branches of the tree in search of a different and exciting world. The book follows 3 children who discover new worlds; sometimes they would have wonderful adventures, other times they would get themselves into a bit of a pickle! My favourite character has to be the Saucepan Man with his funny hearing and of course Moonface. How amazing it would be to slide down his slippery-slip! Now, my own children are reading this book and I hope it will create some wonderful memories for them too

My favourite book is Black Beauty by Anna sewell. Having been an avid horse rider for most of my life, I was over the moon when I first discovered this book when I was around ten years old. I remember the excitement of turning the first page and feeling like I was being transported back in time to something quite magical. Black Beauty is a touching story told from the view point of a black horse who recounts the tales of his life. From his simple beginnings as a foal in a meadow through the ups and downs and twists and turns, Black Beauty tells his own story which illustrates the importance of kindness towards animals. I have read this book so many times and I can honestly say that the more I read it, the better it gets!

I love to read! My favourite book of all time is The Wind In The Willows by Kenneth Grahame. I remember loving it when it was read to me and I have read it to my own children too.

I love 'The three little wolves and the big bad pig' as it is a great twist on a well- loved fairy tale.
The story plot is gripping with surprises on every page. It is amusing and silly.
I have very fond memories of reading this book to my two sons before bed and creating voices for the characters. I have now bought my nephew the book and it is a firm favourite!
Summer 1
We’re heading into the summer term already – time really does fly when you’re having fun! This half term, our topic is Magnificent Mountains, where we’ll be scaling the heights of geographical knowledge! We’ll be learning about where some of the world’s most famous mountain ranges are, how they’re formed, and what it’s like to live in or visit these high-altitude environments. By the end of the unit, we’ll be able to talk about the different types of mountains and explain what makes them so special.
In RE, we’ll be exploring what it means to be a Muslim in Britain today. We’ll find out about the Five Pillars of Islam and why things like charity, prayer and pilgrimage are so important to Muslims around the world.
Computing will see us stepping into the role of game designers! We’ll be planning and creating our own games using 2Code – complete with timers, scores, and user input – as we explore variables, functions and debugging.
There’s a real creative buzz in the air this half term! In Art, we’ll be experimenting with collage to capture the mood and movement of a mountain environment, using mixed media to create our own landscapes. In DT, we’re heading to the kitchen to design and bake our very own artisan bread rolls – learning about ingredients, flavours and food presentation along the way.
Science takes us on a journey through evolution and inheritance. We’ll be learning about how animals adapt to their environments, why species vary, and how fossils give us clues about how living things have changed over time. We’ll also be learning about natural selection and what it means for the future of life on Earth.
In PE, we’ll be focusing on striking and fielding skills – developing our ability to catch, throw, bowl and bat through a range of fun team activities.
This half term’s PSHE (Jigsaw) theme is Relationships. Year 5 will be thinking about how we keep ourselves safe and happy when online, especially when it comes to games and social media. Year 6 will be looking at mental health and how to support themselves and others during times of stress or change.
In Music, Year 5 will be singing and composing using glockenspiels with songs like Wake Up and Dance the Night Away, while Year 6 will begin learning and rehearsing songs for their end-of-year production – exciting times ahead!
Finally, in French, Year 5 will be learning how to talk about different countries and describe their landscapes, while Year 6 will be learning how to talk about their school subjects, giving opinions in French with reasons.
We’re looking forward to another fun-filled, action-packed half term in UKS2!
