Curriculum Intent
Bishop Bronescombe's ‘Be Bold’ Curriculum
At Bishop Bronescombe, we have planned our own curriculum in order that we can deliver the content laid out in the National Curriculum in the context of the Church of England’s ‘Vision for Education’. This is designed to ensure we help children to live ‘life in all its’ fullness’ through a curriculum, which educates for:
- wisdom, knowledge and skills,
- hope and aspiration,
- community and living well together,
- dignity and respect.
We plan our curriculum through topics, aiming to provide exciting and engaging opportunities to allow our pupils to persevere, thrive and achieve; to make the most of God’s gifts and to develop their talents. We encourage children to take risks and show courage, having high expectations of each other and high aspirations for the future. Our aim is to ensure our children become successful, and compassionate, citizens of the future.
We believe that children need a purpose for learning, each and every day, and they need to see the links between today’s learning and long-term aims and aspirations. Our curriculum is therefore aligned so as to create links between subjects and to develop children’s aspirations for future careers.
Our mixed-age class structure requires that our curriculum is planned via a 2 year rolling programme, hanging around key topics detailed below. All the National Curriculum requirements for all the Foundation subjects have been mapped out in each year group, ensuring a broad, balanced and progressive curriculum. Full details of this can be found in the attached pdf.
If you require any further information regarding the curriculum your child will be following, please visit your child's class page or contact your child's class teacher.
